Aims
The Association was founded at the Casuarina Hotel, Batu Ferringhi, Penang, on
the 30th August 1996, by a group of 43 people. The founding marked the
25th Anniversary of the handing over of RAF Butterworth and RAF Penang
to the Malaysian Government in October 1971.
Foundation
The Association aimed to establish and maintain contact with personnel
and their dependants who served at Butterworth or Penang by means of
annual reunions in the UK and the circulation of a membership list.
Status
The RAF Butterworth & Penang Association was an unincorporated Members Club,
affiliated to other associations with RAF links with the Far East including:
The National Malaysia and Borneo Veterans Association,
the RAF Changi Association and the RAF Seletar Association.
